Many people when they start out running, pull on their trainers and try and run too far or too fast and get disheartened when after a few minutes they're out of breath and can't run any further.  They decide they can't run and the trainers get relegated to the back of the wardrobe never to see the light of day again.

 

COUCH TO 5k (C25K)

Our Couch to 5k programs are aimed at complete beginners and start with intervals of just 60 seconds jogging and build up over the nine weeks until you can run 5k with no walking breaks. Throughout the course you will be guided by a qualified Leader in Running Fitness (LiRF) who understands that each person is unique and will progress at different rates.  The maximum group size is 10-12 women so you are assured personal attention and your LiRF will be on hand to help you with your pacing and to ensure that you progress at a rate that's comfortable and achievable to you.  

Our C25K programs culminate in the group attending Jersey's parkrun.  These parkruns are free, weekly, 5k timed runs which take place around the world and Jersey has their own one that takes place at Les Quennevais sports centre at 9am every Saturday.

I joined the programme as I needed to get off the couch. I wanted to be fitter and tone it all up now I was the other side of 40! I’m a gentle runner in terms of speed and thought I needed to keep up. I really didn’t - I was running and that was all that mattered. I am so proud of myself - I never thought I could run for 5 minutes, never mind 5km. I did it - me! Who would have thought?!
